Visas

We are excited to welcome you to Nairobi, Kenya for the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference 2026! If you are traveling from another country, please visit Kenya’s Immigration Services Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) website to confirm whether your citizenship requires an eTA to enter Kenya. Some general information about the eTA process is provided below, but it is your responsibility to verify the requirements and ensure you have the necessary documents.

Please note that the Kenyan government may change or update this information and their requirements at any time.

Who Needs a Visa (eTA) for Kenya?

As of January 1, 2024, Kenya has abolished traditional visa requirements and replaced them with an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system. Most foreign visitors (including U.S., EU, and many African countries) must apply for an eTA before arrival. There is NO visa on arrival. Travelers must obtain an eTA PRIOR TO departure.

How to Apply for the Kenya eTA

  1. Visit the official Kenya eTA portal and select “Apply Now” to begin the application.
    • Do not apply for an eTA at any other website to avoid potential scams.
  2. Prepare required documents, including:
    • Valid passport (at least 6 months validity, with a blank page)
    • Passport-sized photo (white background with no glasses or headwear)
    • Conference invitation letter AND proof of registration.
      • The conference invitation letter is available for all confirmed (paid) attendees). To download your letter, please view this step-by-step guide or follow the instructions below:
        1. Go to your Dryfta profile and click “Login” in the upper right
        2. During conference registration, you were asked to provide your passport details if you needed a conference invitation letter. You may update this information by clicking on “Update Profile” under your name in the upper right.
        3. Scroll down to the Passport Information section. Ensure it is completed, otherwise your conference invitation letter will not be generated with the correct information.
        4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Update Profile”
        5. Click “Profile Overview” under your name in the top right. The “Generate Visa Letter” button is on the left-hand side of your profile under the “Actions” section.
      • Include a copy of your registration receipt or confirmation found in your Dryfta profile under “Tickets” as proof of registration.
    • Travel itinerary (flight and accommodation booking details)
    • If coming from a country endemic with Yellow Fever, please be prepared to furnish proof of vaccination for Yellow Fever during the application process or at the point of entry into Kenya if you are from a country that is not required to obtain an eTA
    • If coming from a country in a fragile humanitarian setting, please allow extra time for your eTA to be processed for approval.
  3. Submit the application online and pay the applicable fee.
  4. Processing time is typically a few business days, but it is strongly encouraged to apply at least 7–10 days in advance to be safe, and even sooner if coming from a country in a fragile humanitarian setting.
    • Expedited standard eTA applications are available and are processed immediately with a fee of USD 130 for single entry.
  5. If you need assistance regarding your application, please email etakenya@ecitizen.go.ke, call +254 717 436 070, or reach out on WhatsApp at +254 110 922 064.
