Abstract Sessions Application Guidance

Key Considerations for Applicants:

  • This session will be open to all IMNHC attendees
  • In-person participation is required (no virtual presentations at this time)
  • Sessions must relate clearly to one or more of the conference tracks
  • Sessions must follow the required format for submission

Evaluation Criteria

  • Does the abstract include a proposed presenter from a low- or middle-income country?
  • Does the abstract feature diversity in terms of gender of abstract authors?
  • Does the abstract include program results or research data with impact clearly demonstrated? Abstracts that promise to include results or data only at the time of presentation will not be reviewed or accepted. Results can be updated at the time of presentation if they become available, but abstracts will be evaluated based on results included at the time of submission.
  • Does the abstract highlight conclusions and/or recommendations that are based on results presented?
  • Does the abstract include specific results that support best practices relevant for national leaders, policymakers, technical leaders, and program managers in MNH?

**Note about conference tracks:
Conference tracks have overlapping components and themes, and the examples listed are not exhaustive. When submitting, your team should select at least one track that you deem most relevant to your abstract or panel. Identifying a second track is optional. Across all conference tracks, IMNHC 2026 aims to highlight efforts that demonstrate successful collaboration across different types of stakeholders, address equity gaps in MNH care and outcomes, and have identified successful ways to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality and stillbirths. Prior to submission, authors should ask themselves, “Does our abstract clearly address at least one of the questions listed in the conference tracks?” Submissions that are deemed to have limited or no relevance to IMNHC conference tracks will not be reviewed. For example, an abstract focused solely on results from in vitro research is not a good fit for IMNHC.
